The Practical Nursing Program at Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute is hosting a bake sale fundraiser on Saturday morning, September 24, at 10:00 at Autumn on the Square in Marianna. Cotton Pickin' Festival

The annual Cotton Pickin' Festival is scheduled for September 23 & 24 at Caldwell Park. Anyone who is interested in entering the Cotton Pickin' King and Queen Pageant or reserving a booth for arts and crafts can call or pick up an entry form from Caldwell City Hall. 11th Annual Peebles Farm Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

The 11th Annual Peebles Farm Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze will be open from Friday, September 23, until Monday, October 31. Kayaking Tours

Mississippi River State Park is hosting their Fall Kayaking Tours with several different sessions. The schedule is as follows:
--They will be at Storm Creek Lake on Saturday, October 1, at 2:00 p.m.
--There will be a full moon tour at Bear Creek Lake on Friday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m.
--There will be a regular tour at Hornor Neck Lake on Saturday, October 29 at 2:30 p.m.
Each guided tour costs $12 and it includes a kayak rental (the price does not change if you bring your own). There will also be a Kayaking try-out tour on Sunday, September 25, from 2:00-4:00, at Storm Creek Lake Swim Beach. For more information on any events call 870-295-4040.

Arkansas Traveler's Workshop

There will be an Arkansas Traveler's Workshop on Monday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m., at the Forrest City Library. Attendees will learn how to access 82 databases and will learn to research genealogy, student resources, adult learning and college prep. The event is free. Gallery Exhibit--Delta: Rediscovered

The EACC Gallery in Forrest City presents Delta: Rediscovered, a touring exhibit that features rare photographs of early Arkansas life along the White River.  The exhibit is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 to 4:00 and on Fridays from 10:00 to noon.  Special group tours may also be scheduled.  There is no charge for admission.  Pieces are the work of Master photographer Dayton Bowers, whose work focused on the lives, culture, and heritage of Arkansans from the early 1880s to the mid-1920s.  Several of his photos are also featured in the book Daughter of the White River (History Press, 2013).  For more information, call the college at 633-4480 or visit their website.

Classes for a Driver's License are held each Thursday at the Lee Co. Courthouse. The written exam is given at 1:00 p.m., and the driving portion is at 9 a.m.

Benefit Fund (Jackson Family)

5-year-old Anna Claire Jackson, daughter of Nick and Detra Jackson, tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 13, in a fatal car accident and a benefit fund has been set up for her family at First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas. "You've Been Gnomed" (Fundraiser)

The DBS High School Sorority Girls are sponsoring a fundraising event so that you can gnome your neighbor or good friend. There are two sets of gnomes, one is in Marianna and the other is in Forrest City. Through the month of September a set of gnomes will be placed in a yard and the home/business owner will need to donate to Prevent Child Abuse America to move the gnomes. 4-H Fishing Derby

Fundraising Dog Show

The Arkansas Bully Fest will be held on Saturday, October 1, with gates opening at 7:00 a.m., at the ASU Equine Center in Jonesboro, AR. This is a dog show for bulldog breeds specifically. Entry is $20 per person, $5 per dogs, and kids 12 and under get in for free. No aggressive dogs or dogs in heat are allowed. During the show a raffle-style fundraiser will be taking place, tickets range from $5-$20. Proceeds from the raffle will go to Forrest City Humane Society. JA Skeet Shoot

Forrest City Junior Auxiliary will have its annual skeet shoot on Saturday, October 1, from 2:00-11:00 p.m., at Central Arkansas Turbines, Inc., 1280 Highway 980, in Forrest City, AR. Registration is from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with the actual shoot from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  Registration fee is $60 per shooter and $30 for a non-shooter.
